Confidence in the Quality of Your Education

Clarity in Our Credentials

At Foster College, accreditation affirms our commitment to delivering a Christ-centered education rooted in academic integrity, institutional accountability, and transformative learning. Accreditation is a public declaration that we meet nationally recognized standards of excellence in higher education including planning, governance, academic quality, financial stability, and student outcomes.

Foster College is accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE) Commission on Accreditation to award diplomas, certificates, and degrees at the Associate and Baccalaureate levels. ABHE is a national faith-based accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

As an accredited institution, Foster College maintains the ability to:

  • Offer degrees and certificates that meet high academic standards.
  • Provide students with access to federal financial aid (for eligible students).
  • Welcome transfer students from, and transfer credits to, other accredited institutions (based on institutional policies).
  • Participate in ongoing institutional self-evaluation and peer review to foster continuous improvement.

The ABHE Commission on Accreditation has placed Foster College (TX) on warning in light of the Commission on Accreditation’s judgment that the institution marginally complies with the following ABHE Institutional Accreditation Standards:

  • Standard 5: EE 2 (Financial stability, including adequate revenue streams to realize institutional mission and sufficient financial reserves to enable effective response to unforeseen financial circumstances and enrollment fluctuations)
  • Standard 5: EE 3 (A budgeting process, informed by institutional planning, that serves as an effective instrument of financial oversight)
  • Standard 5: EE 4 (Risk management policies and procedures and adequate internal controls sufficient to safeguard assets and protect personnel from accusations of wrongdoing)

The institution retains accredited status with ABHE during this period of warning and will be subject to periodic monitoring, which may include progress reports and/or focused visits by Commission on Accreditation staff or evaluation teams. If weaknesses are not resolved within the time specified (usually one year), the Commission on Accreditation may (1) extend the warning for a second year, (2) place the institution on probation, (3) order the institution to show cause why its accreditation status should be continued, or (4) withdraw accreditation status. Warning is rarely extended beyond two years.

Why ABHE?

We chose ABHE because it reflects our theological mission and educational vision: to equip men and women with a Bible-centered worldview and the character to lead, serve, and influence in both ministry and the marketplace.
